Bordered BackgroundsThese backgrounds are all based on the work of Auguste Racinet. Racinet was born in 1825 and is best remembered for two monumental volumes. One was based on clothing and costumes and the other concerns decorative ornament. These designs are taken from the second work. The volumes that I purchased were published by Dover Books. This most excellent company specializes in copywrite free designs for artists of all types. While their work may be copywrite free, I do not consider my own to be so. Please have the courtesy to not link to this site and to give me a bit of credit if you do use these backgrounds. Accompanying bullets, rules and buttons will follow... uhh... when I have time to put them here. Click on any of the images below to see the borders on a full page. Don't copy the files on this page or you won't be happy, as they are only 500 pixels wide. The border backgrounds I create are all 1600 pixels wide. This seems to be the highest resolution most monitors will easily handle anymore. I do this because both my systems at work and at home are set for 1024x768 and it *really* annoys me to find a great page only to find that I can't read it because an otherwise beautiful border background repeats itself halfway across my screen, thereby obscuring the text. Enough rambling... on with the graphics. If you do use something you find here, it'd be nice if you could provide a link back to my site. Here's a button you can use.
