Fractals

According to the Free On-Line Dictionary of Computing, a fractal is a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be subdivided in parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a smaller copy of the whole. Fractals are generally self-similar (bits look like the whole) and independent of scale (they look similar, no matter how close you zoom in).

I'll take their word on that one. What they fail to mention is that fractals are art. There are a lot of programs out there for creating fractals. They run the full gamut from freeware to ...err.. more money than I'd like to spend. I use primarily Fractal Explorer and Kai's Power Tools in Photoshop. I've recently acquired Xenodream also, but I'm still learning how to use it. It seems to be capable of some incredible effects.

Below are the links to the galleries. Some of the files have been post processed in Photoshop. There are some purists who look down their noses at this practice, but as far as I'm concerned, art is art. There are also some border backgrounds in the graphics area that I used bits of fractals to create. Enjoy!
